How Much Exercise Per Day is Good For You?


Everyone should exercise as it is important for your body to get a good workout. If you do not exercise, you will quickly learn that you gain weight and you find yourself feeling much more run down and lazy. To keep up your momentum, it is important that you spend quality time each week getting the appropriate amount of cardio and strength training exercises. But what is the proper amount? Below, you will learn how much of a workout you should get each day.

Exercise for Adults?

It is recommended that adults receive at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours of exercise per week. That means you could break the exercise time down into 30 minute per day chunks or however you see fit. Dividing your exercise time up can greatly reduce the stress that you feel and it allows your body to rest in between each workout session.

If you work out on a hardcore level, it is recommended that you receive 1 1/4 hours per week of exercise which would be a bit less than the 30 minutes per day.

Some people enjoy working out and they are always seeking to increase the amount of time they work out. While there really is no limit on how much exercise you should get, you should stagger your exercises so that your body does not feel overworked and worn down.

Benefits of Exercise

There are many benefits to exercise and since heart disease is one of the most common killers of individuals, it is important that you spend time, even if it’s only 10 minutes per day exercising.

Exercise isn’t Always Boring

Sometimes, people think that exercise is going to be boring and they wonder whether or not they can speed things up to make the time just fly by. Exercise can actually be fun and there are a number of ways you can make it that way.

First, think about exercise classes. Not only will you be able to work out, you will enjoy being part of a group, making new friends, and doing something you enjoy. A cycling class can be more of a work out for you than simply working out at the gym.

Another way to make exercising fun is to do it with your friends and family. A brisk walk around your neighborhood or even the mall can make walking fun. Consider taking small trips to a walking destination. This will keep exercising fun and provide you with new scenery every time you are ready to work out.

Spending time at the gym is not always a cup of tea for every individual and while you need exercise, the gym is not the only place to get it. You can go anywhere you feel comfortable at including the park, beach, or local recreation center. Remember, you should get as much exercise as you are comfortable doing and try to maintain a 30 minute per day regime.
