Choosing Favors for a Child’s Birthday
You have the location, invitations sent out, and the cake ordered. But, what are you going to do about party favors? They cause many a parent plenty of grief, but it does not have to be a hard task. So do not panic, just take a second to read this article, and the rest will fall into place.
Number of Attendees
In some ways, this can be the biggest reason the idea of party favors make parents panic. So, when thinking about what to give as party favors, keep the number of attendees in mind. If the party is being hosted in another location rather than somewhere public, be sure to have guest RSVP, so there is a more accurate headcount- it will help you, and the venue.
The Age Group
Along with the number of kids that will be attending, think about the age group. In some cases the age group can vary either a little or a lot. This is important because what is appropriate for one age might not be for another. Or, the varying ages can mean that the interests of the attendees will be different.
Is it a Coed Party?
If your child’s party is coed, take this into consideration. While boys and girls can have shared interest, there are still the many other factors to take into account. So in order to make life simple, stick with gender-neutral favors that can appeal to everyone. Just do not forget that even gender-neutral gifts still need to take age into consideration.
Make vs. Buy
Depending on what the favor is, and can be a lot cheaper to make yourself rather than buy it. The Internet is full of great DIY party favors for anyone willing to give it a go if they are willing to put forth the time and effort. Buying is another option, with many stores now offering countless trinkets for kids of all ages. Of course, there is always the option of giving kids candy or baked goods (just keep potential allergies in mind).
Consider Your Budget
Now, with all of that it mind comes the big part: the budget. Consider how much you want to spend on each favor, and the sort of things you will include. Whether the plan is to make or buy them, go to the store and see what your ideas will cost. These favors do not have to be big or expensive, just a small reminder of the fun day that happened. It might be a good idea to budget for a couple extra favor bags, just incase there is a surprise guest that shows up.
Birthday parties should be fun for the kids, and even the adults. Favors can be easy to figure out, once you take the various factors into consideration. If you are still not completely sure, though, why not ask the folks of Sky High in Charlotte what they think? Maybe even see about hosting your child’s birthday with them? That is sure to be a day they will not soon forget!
